Description
Quicklime (20kg)
Quicklime is a white substance that is obtained by burning chalk, limestone, dolomite or other rocks of the calcium-magnesium type. Initially it has a lumpy structure.
Quicklime actively interacts with water to form calcium hydroxide – slaked lime. The substance belongs to the second class of danger, since if improperly transported and used, it can cause alkaline burns of mucous membranes and skin, as well as damage the organs of vision and breathing.
Lime must be stored in such a way as to prevent moisture from entering. Typically closed warehouses serve this purpose; the floor of the warehouse must be raised above ground level.
Application of quicklime
Main Application:
- in agriculture to reduce soil acidity and enrich the soil with calcium, treat plants against pests;
- at chemical plants for the production of soda ash and caustic soda;
- in the metallurgical industry for complex processing of copper ores;
- for neutralization and purification of wastewater;
- for technological purposes during complex processing of copper ores;
- for neutralization of mine and industrial wastewater;
- for gas purification and other technological purposes;
- in the construction industry in the production of sand-lime bricks and aerated ash concrete blocks.
- for the production of potassium metal.
The use of lime in construction is necessary for the production of sand-lime bricks, cellular and aerated concrete blocks, plasters, paints, and putties. Thanks to lime additives, solutions are easily and evenly distributed over the surface, become convenient for processing, and are characterized by good water-holding capacity. Therefore, the quality of masonry and plastering work improves and labor productivity increases.
