Description of Polyacetal

Polyacetal (or POM-C) is a high-tech thermoplastic synthetic polymer that possesses outstanding characteristics of elasticity, elongation, and flexion. This material is distinguished by excellent anti-friction properties and high resistance to organic solvents. Due to its physiological safety, polyformaldehyde is widely used in the medical and food industries.

Properties of POM-C

Polyacetal has the following advantages:

However, polyacetal has a drawback—it deteriorates under the influence of concentrated acids.

Applications of Polyacetal

Thanks to its unique properties, polyacetal finds applications in various industrial sectors:

  • Automotive industry: used for manufacturing seat belt mechanisms, parts of window regulators, door handles, steering wheel switches, speaker grilles, fuel pump components, fuel level sensors, seat headrest bushings, buttons, etc.
  • Other industries: employed in the production of gears, worms, gears, rollers, bearing inserts, conveyor parts, gas and water meters, etc.
  • Household appliances: utilized in components for washing machines, dishwashers, audio and video equipment, electric shavers, mixers, printers, etc.
  • Light industry: applied in furniture fittings, watch components, zipper fasteners, buttons, aerosol dispensers, perfume packaging, cutlery handles, etc.

Products made from polyformaldehyde have high dimensional stability due to their improved physico-mechanical characteristics.
