Hydrogen peroxide is an inorganic chemical, the simplest representative of peroxides. It is a colorless, transparent, light, mobile liquid, with a weak characteristic odor and a sour “metallic” taste. Has disinfecting and bleaching properties. Miscible with water, acids, ethylene, methylene, diethyl ether, ethyl acetate, acetone, aniline, immiscible with benzene. It has strong oxidizing and reducing properties and is a good solvent. Gradually decomposes with the release of oxygen. Hydrogen dioxide is produced artificially, through the process of organic synthesis from isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol) or by electrolysis of sulfuric acid. Hydrogen peroxide is popular in concentrations of 30, 35, 50 percent.
