Description
Sheet material made from a mixture of asbestos, rubber and other components is called paronite. Most often it is used for sealing, creating airtight conditions. And other similar needs in various industries. There are several varieties of this material, but regardless of the composition, they contain an asbestos base and rubber.
The properties of different types of paronite may vary depending on the components in the composition and purpose. However, there are also general characteristics that are characteristic of the material:
- First of all, paronite is valued for its sealing properties. This is because the material reaches its yield strength when subjected to a pressure of 32 MPa. And fills all the cracks and gaps, ensuring complete tightness. In this case, it is important to choose the right sheet thickness. It should not be too large, because such a gasket can be squeezed out;
- Paronite does not respond to various biological influences. This allows you to use it in a variety of conditions and climatic zones;
- The material is easily affected. Therefore, from the sheet, you can easily get a gasket of the desired shape and size.
By adding various fillers to the composition, it is possible to obtain a type of paronite suitable for use even in aggressive hydrocarbon environments.
It should be noted that the thickness of paronite is a very important selection criterion. The fact is that if you choose a material with a thickness slightly less than necessary, then it may simply not be enough for high-quality sealing and the paronite will not fill the joint when the yield strength is reached. And if you choose a sheet of paronite with a greater thickness, then such a seal under the influence of pressure can be squeezed out of the connection itself, due to which the tightness and protection of two working units will be completely violated.
