Description Technical salt
The main area of application of technical salt is housing and communal services. It is the main component of most de-icing agents. Despite its corrosive activity, the substance is widely used for these purposes because of its safety and low cost. It forms a brine and prevents the appearance of dangerous ice on the roadway and sidewalks.
Commercial sodium chloride is also used to thaw soil in the petrochemical mining industry. A solution is prepared from it, which is poured into prepared wells under pressure. More pure halite is used in the process of chemical water purification, for cleaning heating systems, in the manufacture of soda, washing powders, paper, glass.
Technical sodium chloride is an environmentally friendly, easy to use and store, frost-resistant, cheap raw material. It is mined from the corresponding sedimentary rock in a quarry.
The requirements for its physical and chemical characteristics are determined by the specifications. Depending on the variety, the mass fraction of the main substance in the product is at least 80%, and the particle size distribution is determined based on the type. So, fine salt (A) consists mainly of particles with a diameter of up to 1.2 mm. Category D raw materials mainly include crystals up to 20 mm.
Technical salt of the first grade contains up to 4.5% moisture. It allows the presence of 0.75% insoluble sediment, a small amount of calcium, magnesium, potassium, sulfate ions. In its pure form, the substance is slightly hygroscopic, however, due to the impurities it contains, it becomes damp in air. Halite is moderately soluble in water, freezes as a solution at temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius (depending on concentration).
Halite is an odorless, colorless or white crystalline substance. Its color is determined by impurities (for technical raw materials it is usually gray-yellow).
If it is important to maintain flowability and initial moisture, salt should be stored in airtight containers in a dry place. The substance has an unlimited shelf life. Raw materials used in the housing and communal services sector are often stored on equipped sites with a hard surface and a drainage system.
Technical salt is sold in various packages, including bags of 25, 50 kg and big bags of 1000 kg. You can transport it by any means of transport, observing the general safety requirements.
