Description
Electrolyte
Battery electrolyte is an integral part of the electrochemical process that provides uninterrupted power supply to your vehicle. This chemically aggressive solution, consisting of an alkali or acid in distilled water, plays a key role in the storage and transmission of electrical energy.
When the battery is charged, the electrolyte absorbs electrons from the positive plate (anode), resulting in the formation of positive ions in the electrolyte. These ions move through the electrolyte to the negative plate (cathode), releasing electrons in the process. Thus, a cyclic process occurs, allowing the battery to both accumulate and release electricity.
Optimal electrolyte densities for different seasons:
To ensure maximum performance from your battery in different climates, it is important to consider changes in electrolyte density depending on the time of year.
Summer operating recommendations: In summer, when temperatures rise, the optimal electrolyte density should fluctuate between 1.23-1.24 g/cm³. This ensures optimal electrical conductivity and stability of the battery in high temperature conditions.
Winter recommendations: In winter, when temperatures drop, it is necessary to increase the density of the electrolyte to ensure reliable battery operation. It is recommended to maintain the density in the range of 1.27-1.28 g/cm³. In harsh northern climates, where temperatures can drop to -30 degrees, a density in the range of 1.30-1.34 g/cm³ is preferred.
Specialized requirements: It is recommended to take into account the climatic conditions in which the vehicle is used. In harsh northern climates where cold is common, maintaining a higher electrolyte density will ensure battery stability even in the coldest conditions.
It should be remembered that regular checking and maintaining optimal electrolyte density is the key to long battery life and reliable power supply to your car.
