Description

Barium carbonate is made from natural barium sulfate by reduction with coke and carbon dioxide. It is a granular or powdery substance of white or light gray color, odorless. Barium carbonate is insoluble in water and organic solvents. Toxic and incompatible with organic substances. Molecular formula: BaCO3.

Standard barium carbonate powder can be purchased for use in special glass, glaze, brick and tile, ceramic and ferrite industries. Barium carbonate is also used to remove sulfates in the production of phosphoric acid and the electrolysis of arc chlorine.
The price of barium carbonate is usually low, which allows this reagent to be added and used in alkaline electrolysis and for the purification of phosphoric and tartaric acids from impurities.

Coarse barium carbonate powder is used to create display glass, crystal and other specialized glass, glazes and enamels. This chemical reagent is also used in the chemical industry.
